Description:

Prof. Science talks briefly on The Theory of Evolution and how it exists in the scientific world. This is a video response to the episode of UTNow entitled "From Wolves to Weimaraners". Admittantly the Prof. Science character is a little exagerated and I may have to tone him down a bit next time he is needed to speak on another topic of science.

Except evolution is concidered mute by the fossil record. The cambrain explosion killed it.

Could you please elaborate on that?

The cambrian explosion was an expansion of the SIZE of pre-existing organisms not the sudden appearance of "new" forms that creationists think it was. Small animals do not fossilize well, especially soft bodied ones like MOST of the "new" forms of the cambrian were. Hell, the most numerous animal in the ocean is the copepod a close relative of the lobster but there are very few fossils of copepods and the ones that do exist are the larger parasitic forms.

Another piece of evidence ot support the explosion as being of size not form is that it coincides strongly with the atmosphere being oxygenated to the level that it could support large animals. So no the cambrian explosion is not ignored at all. Matter of fact it is one of the most keenly researched eras because it is so interesting.

Yeah. Exactly! That's why I was so confused by Timinator15's comment. For the reasons you just gave. How does that consider evolution "mute by the fossil record"?
