How can dirty oil kill your starter? Because it's corroded and holds a more weight inside your oilpan, so when the starter engages it'll have to drag that flywheel more? Tony, on the contrary when oil is heated after a period of time the viscosity of that oil changes , put cooking oil in a frying pan and you'll see how it thins out -- so your theory on the alternator dying was incorrect

things that would cause the starter to malfunction would be a bad connection TO the starter motor, the coil windings inside the starter solenoid to push out the pinion gear, a faulty altenator that wouldnt be able to recharger the battery after cranking/starting or the pinion gear itself, causing it not to engage properly onto the flywheel , it's amazing how people in the automotive industry take advantage of the average american by saying some sort of bologna

so your theory on the alternator dying was incorrect What i meant was your STARTER, not the altenator [refering to the above comments] sorry for the typo, hope u dont get confused

It's pretty rare to see the discs go under limit before the pads.
