Wow good job on describing recoil on automatic firearms!

Nah, that gun has little recoil. But his hands may be a little shaky.

The M-60 is a big heavy gun, which soaks up a lot of recoil. In particular, the mass in the action soaks up recoil as it cycles, unlike a pump or double-barrel shotgun in which there is no movement of the action until after the recoil impulse has been absorbed.

Having fired machineguns in the military and as a private citizen, having disintegrating belts is fantastic. You don't really have time to reload spent links in the field, nor do you have the equipment to do it effectively. Having the machinegun spit brass out the side is a benefit, as you can easily clear away the brass and links without interfering with the gunner (as would be necessary if you had to sweep under the gunner's position).

A plus to disintegrating links however, is that you do not have to worry about a big dangling empty belt on the right side of your gun, which I would imagine to be rather inconvenient in the field. If you're dealing with disintegrating links, all your ammunition (hopefully) will already be linked up in belts. It is stupid that it spits the casings to the right, but keep in mind that the MGer's number 2 will usually be on his/her left. But it is stupid that it spits them to the right.

3 flaws with the M60 1. Spits empty casings to the right and not down on the ground. Leads to filling your friend with glowing hot metal things. 2. The M60 fires like the old Spandau and vicker machineguns, about 500-600 rounds/min and that's a very low rate of fire today. 3. Cartridge belts should be in metal and not destroyed after firing so that you can refill the belts in the field and not get the machinegunfire halted because lack of munition at the ready.
