Now THAT'S Christian love at work -- you're only telling me this so I won't have an excuse to avoid eternal hell when I die. Your beliefs are made more ridiculous only by the smugness with which you assert them.

Once again, I'm not here to convince you of anything (you have a closed mind), I'm just here to take away the "Nobody told me that" excuse on Judgment Day.

I'm convince d by evidence, and evidence alone. The bible is only compelling if you already believe in God. To me it's just a book, like any other. Reality Lesson, 101.

They wrote in dungeons, in temples, on beaches and on hillsides, during peacetime and during war. Yet their words sound like they came from the same source. NO other book has been so attacked throughout history. The French philosopher, Voltaire boasted that within 100 years of his death, the Bible would disappear from the face of the earth. He died in 1728. The Bible remains THE best selling book of all time.

History Lesson 101: The Bible was written over a period of 1600 years by more than 40 writers from all walks of life. Some were fishermen, some were politicians. Others were General or Kings, shepherds or historians. They were from three different continents and wrote in three different languages. They wrote on 100's of controversial subjects yet they wrote with agreement and harmony.

Or so you believe. I see no evidence to suggest it's anything other than a book written by people who knew less that your average 6th grader today. Why did God perform miracles so often back then, but strangely none today? Oh, that's right, because we could actually verify them today. If there is a God, you shouldn't need the Bible to prove it.

The Bible has several purposes. The Old Testament gives Christians (and all mankind) a history from the beginning of time to the birth of Christ. The New Testament tells the story of God's New Covenant established with man when Christ was crucified for all of us. It explains in detail, HOW and WHY Christ had to die. The Bible was written to show sinners the way God has made for all of us to escape Hell.

"Little Miss Muffet, sat on her tuffet, eating her curds and whey" -- Mother Goose. The Bible's just a book, and not a very well written one at that. Why, if God wrote it, being all-knowing/seeing, is there not a single mention of any technology developed or person born after the time of its authoring? Seems a little fishy to me.

That, once again, is so condescending. I don't claim to be perfect, but I certainly don't want or need forgiveness from some celestial boogeyman.
