Almost every seriously professional drummer has their own tech who takes care of this, it's not just Neil. It's not uncommon for the techs to have a better idea of how to set up the gear properly than the actual artist! Thumbs up to both Neil and Lorne, I think they're both cool.

if every drummer had a drum tech, it would be so much easier. i would love to be peart's drum tech.

I wonder if that guy that was testing out the set ever was doing the sound check and then all of a sudden it just hit him that he's playing on NEIL PEART's drum set.

Actually, this guy gets paid handsomely to do this. And neil CAN set up his own kit, but pre-show hes got other things he has to do, like eat, rest (can't do a show tired) use the facilities (it's that or depends), and meet with the other members. Also, sometimes the techs and the gear arrive at the concert hall before the musicians do. And having a team of techs setting up makes it FAR faster. It takes them 16 mins and 38 secs to set up. If JUST neil was setting up, he's need 45 mins.

oh yes there is..... there is a drummer out there whos solo is uncannily similar (in some parts) to mr pearts R30 live solo. but the thing is that i heard this played first in the early seventies by the most underated drummer of all time!!! his name is Mr Carl Palmer. check out palmers solo on the stainless steel kit he was playing at the time then try and work out WHAT he is doing rather than HOW. Now, if you shut your eyes whilst listening to some parts of Palmers solo....very similar.

holy crap that would suck to set that thing up.....but it'd be sweet to be that guy that does the sound tests for it.

Really interesting!! I found it it funny aswell tho. Imagine having to first work your way around setting the whole thing up, how many times youd have to turn your hand round. and then once the gears up, the nice job of the sound check. Nice job^^
