In your video description, you saw that the train in the background "outlawed". What exactly does that mean? Been wondering for a while hehe.

When a train has been outlawed, it means that the crew on the train has worked beyond the maximum amount of allowable hours that they are supposed to work. At this point, they are relieved of their duties, and a new crew will replace them. The only reason the train stopped there is because the siding they were on is the longest one between Albany, and where they were heading to, Binghamton.

Ah, ok thank you for explaining it to me. I just got a job with CN Rail here in Edmonton, and I start my training on July 30. I suppose I will find all about the def. in due time hehe.

CN? Cool! Who dealt with you at HR session and interview? Was it Kerri, Carla or Jane who conducted the testing and interviews?

I honestly don't remember any of their names, except for Mick (Micky?), and there was the younger HR girl doing the efficiency testing who I think might have been Kerri. Did you make it through and what class were you in?

I got friends there and I was a CN conductor 10 years ago. After the training we were all cut. I work in a factory that pays $20.00/ hr. I tried getting back in with CN but couldn't- regardless of my past training. Too much competition. I think it was Jane who did the testing ten years ago. She was pretty friendly and cool. I heard that Kerri was a snot from other CN workers. I don't remember a Mick. It was 10 years ago. Nice trips to Jasper. I hope you enjoy your career.

Ah, that sucks. Whenever this comes into discussion we have been told that CN is hard-up for tons of conductors/engineers. I don't see why they won't take back someone with experience. But, I'm pretty excited and am sure I will enjoy my new career very much!

Politics. That's why they won't rehire some people with experience. I had experience in their Track Maintenance and Signals in the eightees. Besides, nowadays the women at HR are bitches that are stuck on themselves. They're hard up for Conductors and Hoggers? Could have fooled me. I knew two enginemen who had their Hog tickets and were laid off who CN wouldn't take back. They were good men. Watch yourself. Enjoy your out of town trips. Score 100% on your signals test otherwise "good bye".

What I mean by "good bye" is that they'll kick you out if you don't get at least 100% on your signals test. They also have very strict rules and policies compared to some other railroads. CN is far different now than when I remember it- more strict today but to each there own. I heard that CP was more lenient but I don't know. Watch out for the trainmasters- all mouth. Revel in the sights, sounds and action of the yards and road trips. Stay solid. Did you have any previous experience?
