skeeterjugs ::: Favorites So true. It's like Hendrix. He really loved playing the blues (Red House is probably one of the best blues songs ever) and acoustic, 12-string etc. but everyone wanted to see him play with his teeth and burn his guitar and such. But like Miles he experimented with all kinds of gadgets and techniques always trying to find something nobody had heard before. 40 yrs later and musicians are still trying to figure it out! 07-07-13 13:48:33 _____________________________________________________
yourfishlimit ::: Favorites Watch some of the older videos before he went abstract or listen to some the stuff he did on Birth of the Cool or Kind of Blue. He had been around the jazz scene so long and buy this time was so respected that all he had to do was show up. I think personally that he felt that everthing had been done as far as the jazz scene goes and he wanted to take everyone to the next level and let people experiance the true meanig of "jazz" which self expression with no boundries. skeeterjugs ::: Favorites To see Chic Correa LIVE makes one realize what a creative talent he is. I never saw him with Miles, but several times with RTF. He's definitely my favorite living jazz pianist. Though, I think Oscar Peterson is THE ONE. Then there's Monk,Duke,Hancock,Hammer...Okay...so I can't make up my mind. Love 'em all! 07-06-28 10:09:24 _____________________________________________________
C0NTR4B455 ::: Favorites Yup..Its the balance of the experimental and the groovy that gives this particular Miles band its unique quality..Very much of its time and yet timeless! 07-06-28 08:38:05 _____________________________________________________
skeeterjugs ::: Favorites I just burned a spleef and it sounds much better now!! HA!! I dig Miles too. He's one of the best of all time, and like Mingus, Monk and Hendrix, WAY ahead of his time. But even some of their stuff is a little too abstract for me but thats just MY personal taste. 07-06-27 12:46:57 _____________________________________________________
drumbum1010 ::: Favorites hey man, im a hard core MD fan and im saying to each there own. 07-06-27 02:30:22 _____________________________________________________
skeeterjugs ::: Favorites I really do respect and admire all of these guys. Chic, Miles, DeJohnette etc. But the 1st 4 minutes is like a sound check at rehearsal, and everyone is going in different directions. I know I'll catch crap from hard-core MD fans, saying I don't understand the complexity. I do. Miles is the Picasso of jazz. Very abstract. I just prefer the groove, and a line you can follow. 07-06-26 16:47:01 _____________________________________________________
C0NTR4B455 ::: Favorites ...And Miles leads them back from the abstract abyss to the groove! 07-06-20 18:23:51 _____________________________________________________
StovoKhor ::: Favorites must be seen in religious mode :) 07-06-17 03:52:14 _____________________________________________________
chrisrave ::: Favorites this stuff is so sacred and amazing, i feel like i'm not worthy to watch it. 07-06-14 17:04:19 _____________________________________________________ |
